Valheim Devcommands Deep Dive — All 1.0 Console Commands, Achievement Flagging and the Opt-In

How to enable Valheim 1.0 devcommands, the full 1.0-added command list (cinematic, findbiome, repairall, achievements), the devcommands achievement flag, and how to opt your world back in.

Verified Valheim 1.0

By Valheim Field Guide Editorial Team

devcommands unlocks the full console

Valheim’s console (F5 on PC; RB+LB+RT+LT+Menu on Xbox) starts with a small list of admin commands. Typing devcommands into the console unlocks the full command set — spawn items, teleport, enter god mode, fly the camera, run events, and every biome-cheat.

When you run devcommands, Valheim shows a warning: this action will permanently mark your character and world against earning achievements. There is no confirmation dialog — read the warning before pressing Enter.

To turn devcommands back off, type devcommands again. The achievement flag persists even if you toggle devcommands off — once marked, your character is flagged until you run the opt-in command (see below) or create a new character / world.

How to enable the console in the first place

Valheim hides the console by default. Before you can type anything, you need to enable it.

On PC (Steam):

  1. Open Steam → Library → right-click Valheim → Properties.
  2. Under General, type -console into Launch Options.
  3. Launch Valheim normally, then press F5 in-game.

On Xbox:

  1. Boot Valheim and hold RB + LB + RT + LT + Menu simultaneously.
  2. Use A to open the on-screen keyboard and type devcommands.
  3. This enables devcommands for the current session only. There is no persistent launch option equivalent on Xbox.

The 1.0-new devcommands — what they do

Version 1.0 added a batch of new commands covering cinematics, biome navigation, inventory management and world stats. These are confirmed present on all platforms as of the 1.0 launch. We group them by purpose.

Cinematic and photo mode

Command Effect
cinematic Toggles free-moving cinematic camera. Use WASD to fly, Q/E to move up and down. Freeze player character.
cinematicsleep Similar but player can still perform sleeping mechanic while camera is detached.
ffsmooth 0/1 Toggles smooth motion for the free camera.
clearpopups Hides all the floating “unlocked” UI messages that clutter the screen during testing.

Biome navigation and discovery

Command Effect
biomeinfo Prints the current biome you are standing in plus nearby alt-biome variants. Useful for confirming alternate biomes spawned near your base.
altbiomes Reveals which biomes have alternate version spawned in the seed.
findbiome BIOMENAME Searches the world for the named biome and shows the direction + approximate distance to its nearest edge.
findbiometp BIOMENAME Teleports you directly to the nearest edge of the named biome.
haslocation Lists all pre-generated locations the game knows about (dungeons, troll caves, boss stones, etc.).
snow Toggles snow visibility and walking-on-ice effects (applies only in appropriate biomes).
height Prints your exact Z-axis height. Useful for building across uneven terrain.

Inventory and world maintenance

Command Effect
inventorysize N Resizes your inventory. inventorysize 20 doubles your slots. Client-side only — does not affect other players.
inventoryclean Deletes all items currently on the ground within your loaded zone. Equivalent to a mass removedrops.
repairall Repairs every piece of armour, weapon, tool and building piece you currently own, no workbench required.
updatecover Forces a re-render of terrain textures on loaded zones. Useful if terrain edits did not update visually.

Achievement and player stat commands

Command Effect
achievements Lists every achievement you have earned (and haven’t) on the current character. Does not change achievement flagging status.
confirmcheats Forces the achievement flag even if you have never run devcommands. Running it is equivalent to running devcommands for flagging purposes — you still need to opt back in with the opt-in command if you change your mind.
getstat STATNAME Prints the value of a named player stat. Valid stat names include deaths, bodies, raids, fireDamageDone, meleeDamageDone, magicDamageDone, and several others tied to achievement tracking.
resetbuildui Resets the build menu UI to its default tab selection. Useful if your build menu starts on the wrong category after a mod conflict.
pevents Lists all players currently in your world session plus their Steam IDs, ready for copying into admin permissions files.

The opt-in command — how to recover achievements after devcommands

Iron Gate added a workaround in late-access patches and confirmed it still works at 1.0. If your character or world was flagged by devcommands but you want achievements back:

  1. Open the console with F5.
  2. Type yes i used devcommands but i want my achievements anyway (remove all the blank spaces — the command must be entered with no spaces, per Iron Gate’s Hotfix 1.0.10/1.0.12 notes).
  3. Valheim confirms the opt-in on screen. Your world and character are no longer excluded from achievement progress.

This is a one-way state per devcommands run — if you use devcommands again after opt-in, you will need to opt back in again.

Common creative-mode command patterns

If you use devcommands to build or test (the most common use case), this is the typical sequence:

  1. god → invincibility during test combat and exploration.
  2. nocost → build without consuming materials.
  3. freefly → screenshot positions and aerial base design.
  4. exploremap → map the seed from top down before choosing where to build.
  5. findbiome DeepNorth → navigate to the new biome from anywhere.
  6. resetbuildui → recover if your build menu glitches.

Remember to run yes i used devcommands... after you finish testing and before you start your “real” character/world playthrough.

Being verified: We are not publishing the full spawn ITEM ID AMOUNT item ID table or every lesser-known devcommands command. The command names and effects listed above are confirmed by Iron Gate’s 1.0 patch notes and three independent community sources (IGN 1.0 patch notes, allthings.how full list, beebom deep-dive). For an up-to-date item ID list, run spawn * 1 in your own devcommands console — it spawns one of every item you can inspect in-game.
