Crossplay at 1.0

The 1.0 release unifies PC, Xbox, PS5 and Switch 2 under crossplay. A console world can host players from other platforms as long as everyone is on the same game version.

Version matching is the rule that governs everything else here, so check it before you troubleshoot anything. Past that, the two consoles differ mainly in presentation rather than content: display modes on PS5, HUD scale and texture streaming on Switch 2, and a controller-first building flow on both. Exact display-mode and performance figures are still being checked against the console builds and get published here once confirmed.

PS5 notes

  • DualSense features are used lightly; building and combat map to the standard controller layout.
  • Expect a choice between a resolution and a performance mode in the display settings.
  • Cross-progression depends on the account you sign in with — check the multiplayer channel before switching platforms.

Switch 2 notes

  • The handheld/docked split affects the HUD scale; adjust UI size in settings for readable biome tooltips.
  • Local multiplayer and online crossplay follow the same version-matching rule as other platforms.
  • Texture streaming behaves differently on the move — give assets a moment after fast travel.

Controller building tips

  • Snap points and the stability meter read the same as on PC; the radial menu replaces the hotbar.
  • Practice the placement grid in a calm spot before attempting a large roof span.

Known caveats

Version parity is the single biggest crossplay blocker: if a console patch lags the PC build, cross-session joins can fail until both sides match. This page tracks the current parity status.
