Where to find Bonemass
Bonemass is the third Forsaken and lurks in the Swamp. Its offering mound is a sunken skull of mud and bone, and you call it with ten Withered Bones — found in the sunken crypts and draugr villages across the biome.
Attack pattern
Bonemass is slow but relentless. It delivers a heavy melee swing with its arms, spits poison blobs that leave lingering damage clouds, and unleashes a body-slam poison AoE when you get too close. The poison clouds punish greed — trade a hit, then back off before the AoE lands.
Fight tips
- A bronze or iron mace is the answer; blunt is its weak point and pierce/fire barely scratch it.
- Bring poison resistance mead — the poison blobs will otherwise stack into lethal damage.
- Keep an eye on your footing: fighting in deep water slows you and makes dodging the AoE far harder.
- Eat a high-health Swamp meal set beforehand so a single slam cannot drop you below recovery range.
Drops and Forsaken Power
Defeating Bonemass grants the Wishbone, which pings buried treasure and lets you locate the silver deposits in the Mountain. Claiming the Bonemass Power gives resistance to pierce, slash and blunt damage, and makes blocking cost no stamina while returning stamina on each successful block — the key survivability tool for the trolls of the Mountain that comes next. Full list: Forsaken Powers.
Frequently asked questions
- What is Bonemass weak to?
- Blunt and Frost damage. It is immune to poison, and resistant to fire, pierce and slash — so a mace or club is the efficient choice.
- How many Withered Bones do I need?
- Ten, offered at the Bonemass mound in the Swamp. Find them in sunken crypts and draugr villages.
- What does Bonemass drop?
- The Wishbone, which pings buried treasure and reveals Mountain silver, plus the Bonemass Trophy. Its Forsaken Power grants resistance to pierce, slash and blunt damage and turns blocking into a stamina-positive action.
