Fader Boss Guide — Ashlands Summoning and Drops
How to summon and beat Fader, the Ashlands boss in Valheim 1.0: the coliseum, the 3-Bell summon, the Fader Relic drop, and his resistance profile.
By Valheim Field Guide Editorial Team
Where to find Fader
Fader guards the Ashlands, the scorched southern biome. The fight starts at a coliseum in the Ashlands, whose location is marked on your map by the Vegvisir in the Charred Fortress. In a solo fight he has 25,000 HP.
Resistance profile (1.0): Fader is resistant to pierce and immune to fire, spirit and stagger (he cannot be staggered); blunt, slash, frost, lightning and poison all land at normal (x1). The Forsaken Power values below are confirmed from the Call to Arms rework. See our verification workflow for how data gets confirmed here.
What we do know
- Fader is the Ashlands boss, at the end of the 1.0 progression line that the Torn Spirit (via Yagluth) opens.
- The biome around the arena is the real difficulty check: lava, heat damage and charred enemies will kill an under-prepared party before Fader is even summoned.
- The Fader Relic is the Ashlands progression item, in the same role that the Wishbone, Dragon Tear and Torn Spirit play earlier.
Fight tips
- Finish the classic line first: the Torn Spirit (via Yagluth), then the Mistlands gear tier and resistance powers.
- Prepare fire resistance and a route through the lava before you hunt for the altar — the approach is a fight in itself.
- Come back to this page before you summon. The offering details, attack pattern and resistances get filled in here as soon as they are confirmed.
Drops and Forsaken Power
The documented drop is the Fader Relic, the item that carries the Ashlands progression forward, plus the Fader Trophy. Fader is resistant to pierce and immune to fire and spirit, so bring a weapon that does blunt, slash, frost, lightning or poison, and keep a fire resistance mead up for the environment. The Fader Power, confirmed from the Call to Arms rework, gives 100% increased Adrenaline gain, 50% reduced stagger when hit and 50% fire resistance — built for the Ashlands and for endgame content that keeps hitting you while you burn. Full list: Forsaken Powers.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I summon Fader?
- At a coliseum in the Ashlands, found via the Vegvisir in the Charred Fortress. The offering is 3 Bells — each Bell is crafted from 3 Bell Fragments.
- What does Fader drop?
- Fader Relics, which carry the Ashlands progression line forward, plus the Fader Trophy.
- Should I go to the Ashlands before beating Yagluth?
- No. The Torn Spirit (via Yagluth) opens the path to the Ashlands and the Deep North, and you want Mistlands-tier gear and resistance powers before the Ashlands' heat and charred enemies.
