Valheim 1.0 is out

Valheim left early access on 9 September 2026 with the 1.0 release. After years in early access, the game now has a defined ending biome, cross-platform play, and an achievement system — the three headline features of the launch.

Deep North: the progression line closes

Deep North is the final biome and closes the progression line that began in the Meadows. It is the destination players have been building toward across every boss tier, and it ships complete with the 1.0 release. For what the biome contains and how to prepare for it, see the Deep North guide.

Crossplay unifies PC, Xbox, PS5 and Switch 2

At 1.0, PC (Steam and Microsoft Store), Xbox, PS5 and Switch 2 can play in the same world. Sessions run on a join code rather than a shared friends list, which is what lets players on different stores and networks meet in one world — provided everyone is on the same game version and the host has crossplay enabled. The full mechanics are in the crossplay guide, and the platform-specific caveats in the PS5 and Switch 2 notes.

A full achievement system arrives

1.0 brings Valheim’s first complete achievement system. The full list of achievements is maintained on a dedicated page: Valheim 1.0 achievements.

Should you keep your old world?

The most common question at a 1.0 launch is whether an early-access world is still worth continuing. The short answer is that worlds are files and carry forward, but there are trade-offs around version updates and new content. We cover the decision in detail in new save vs. old world.
