The Forsaken, in order

Valheim’s main progression is a chain of Forsaken bosses. You fight them in a fixed sequence, and each kill hands you the tool or power that opens the next biome. This page is the map of that chain — for the detailed fight on any one boss, use its full guide or its quick “how to beat” page.

# Boss Biome Summon with Weak to Full guide Quick kill
1 Eikthyr Meadows 2× Deer Trophy at the Mystical Altar Blunt (club) guide how to beat
2 The Elder Black Forest 3× Ancient Seed at the summoning stone Fire guide how to beat
3 Bonemass Swamp 10× Withered Bone at the offering mound Blunt (mace/club) guide how to beat
4 Moder Mountain 3× Dragon Egg at the summit altar Fire guide how to beat
5 Yagluth Plains 5× Fuling Totem at the standing stones No real weakness — blunt/slash/frost all full damage (very resistant to pierce, resistant to fire, immune to poison) guide how to beat
6 The Queen Mistlands Sealbreaker in an Infested Citadel (then 3× Seeker Soldier Trophy to re-fight) Blunt/Slash (resistant to pierce, immune to spirit) guide how to beat
7 Fader Ashlands 3× Bell at a coliseum (Vegvisir in the Charred Fortress) Blunt/Slash (resistant to pierce, immune to fire/spirit) guide how to beat
8 Kall Fimbulbringer Deep North 3× Malicious Blood at the Aesir Passage Blunt/Slash (resistant to pierce/fire/frost/lightning, immune to spirit) Deep North guide

Note on Kall: Kall Fimbulbringer is the 8th and final boss, added in 1.0 with the Deep North. The fight has three phases (roughly 10,000 / 7,000 / 30,000 HP, about 47,000 in total): after the first phase Kall hides inside an invincible block of ice while the spirits of the previous bosses (Eikthyr, The Elder & Bonemass together, then Moder, Yagluth, The Queen and Fader, in that order) are summoned — with two spirits active at the same time until the last pair — and the ice shatters once all of them fall. Unlike the other Forsaken he does not drop a trophy and has no Forsaken Power — killing him drops Sacrificial Blood (and a Crown Jewel), which you offer at the original Sacrificial Stones to complete the game. See the Deep North guide and our verification workflow.

Why the order matters

The sequence is not arbitrary — each boss’s reward is the key to the next region:

  • Eikthyr drops the Hard Antler, which unlocks the Antler Pickaxe. Without it you cannot mine the copper and tin the Black Forest needs.
  • The Elder and Bonemass push you into iron and the Swamp’s resources; Bonemass’s Forsaken Power makes you dramatically tankier.
  • Moder opens the path to the Plains with its sailing power.
  • Yagluth hands over late-game crafting materials.
  • The Queen and Fader gate the Mistlands and Ashlands endgame.
  • Kall Fimbulbringer is the final boss of the Deep North — his Sacrificial Blood ends the game, so he is the last gate on the whole progression arc.

Fighting out of order means arriving under-geared and missing the movement or survival power the next biome expects you to have.

How to use this hub

  1. Work down the table in order.
  2. Before any first attempt run the boss preparation checklist — summon offering, resistance, weapon type, food and Forsaken Power, all on one row.
  3. Read the full guide before a first attempt — it has the attack pattern, drops and Forsaken Power.
  4. Use the quick kill page for a refight or a speedrun: it is a compact, action-only checklist.
  5. Before each fight, fill your food slots and match your weapon’s damage type to the boss’s weakness: food and meals, mead complete guide and weapon tier list.
  6. Solo vs full co-op changes fight difficulty (scaling locks on first hit) — plan roles accordingly: solo vs co-op boss difficulty.

Forsaken Powers

Every boss you defeat lets you claim its Forsaken Power at its altar — a timed buff you activate before a push. Bonemass’s power suits tanky melee, Moder’s gives a tailwind (lasting 300s) and carry-weight boost for sailing to the next boss, and the rest fill specific roles. Frequently asked questions

What order do you fight Valheim bosses in?
Eikthyr (Meadows), The Elder (Black Forest), Bonemass (Swamp), Moder (Mountain), Yagluth (Plains), The Queen (Mistlands), Fader (Ashlands), and finally Kall Fimbulbringer (Deep North). This is the intended progression order — each boss's drops and Forsaken Power unlock the tools you need for the next biome.
Can I skip bosses?
Technically yes, but the sequence is designed so each kill unlocks the next step: Eikthyr's Hard Antler gives the pickaxe for ore, and each boss's Forsaken Power covers a hazard you face later. Skipping one usually means fighting the next under-geared.
How do I summon each boss?
Each Forsaken has a fixed offering — 2 Deer Trophies for Eikthyr, 3 Ancient Seeds for The Elder, 10 Withered Bones for Bonemass, 3 Dragon Eggs for Moder, 5 Fuling Totems for Yagluth. The Queen is opened with a Sealbreaker in an Infested Citadel (then 3 Seeker Soldier Trophies to re-fight), Fader is summoned with 3 Bells at a coliseum, and Kall Fimbulbringer with 3 Malicious Blood.
